  • School Meals

If you would like your child to have a school meal, you must contact the school office.  If you are changing to a school meal or moving to a packed lunch, you must give school one week’s notice

    Meal Choices

We ask parents to select and book their children's meals via ParentPay, so the children get their choice of meal. There is a deadline to book your child’s meal choice, and they must be booked by Thursday midnight for the following week. If you don't pay for your children's meals, you can book as many weeks in advance as you wish.

Please refer to the ParentPay section of our website for more information.

    Payment

For children in year 3-6 the cost of lunch is £2.35  All children in Foundation, Year 1 and 2 are entitled to a Universal Free School meal (UIFSM).  This is a Government initiative which provides a meal to all children, regardless of family income, in Foundation, and Key Stage 1.  Even though you do not need to pay for these lunches, you still need to make a selection for your child using ParentPay.

We ask for payment at least one week in advance, using our main method of payment, ParentPay.  We also accept payment by credit or debit card over the phone.

    Drinks in School

We encourage children to bring water bottles into school in order that they are able to drink during the school day and remain hydrated. As a school encouraging healthy habits, we do not allow flavoured water or juice.

    Debt Recovery Policy

In the unfortunate case that debts occur, school operates a ‘Debt Recovery Policy’.  You can view this in the ‘Policies’ section of our website of click on ‘Debt Recovery’.

    Current Menu

Click on the right to view a sample/past menu.  You can also view and book these via ParentPay in the ‘Booking & Selection section.

Ensure that you make your child’s choice from the correct option identified with the applicable year group.  The menu options without a year group are available to all children on a school meal.

    What are Free School Meals?

You may be eligible for your child to receive free school meals if you are in receipt of certain benefits.  This means that whether your child is in Foundation to Year 6 they would  not have to pay. for their dinner in school.  Currently, all children in Foundation, Year 1 and 2 get a Universal Free School meal, regardless of whether you are in receipt of certain benefits to help with your family income.  However, it is important that if you think you are eligible, you should apply, because as a school we can get extra funding, which is vitally important to continue to strive to provide the very best we can for all children who come to Layton Primary School.
