"Exercise is the key not only to physical health but to peace of mind"

    Nelson Mandela

Our PE curriculum aims to develop the physical skills and ability to be physically active and live a healthy lifestyle.

At Layton Primary School, we value the sporting potential of each and every child; we are committed to providing a range of sports opportunities to interest everyone.  The ethos around fitness, healthy lifestyles and PE has a high profile within school and the opportunities provided by school are wide and broad, both within the curriculum and through extra-curricular activities.  We employ a variety of specialist coaches to support our PE offer in a wide variety of sporting and fitness activities.

Taking part in sports and activities is an integral part of life at Layton. We recognise the value of competitive sports and see interschool and intra-school activities as an opportunity for children to develop and showcase their talents through sporting events. As such, Layton Primary School has achieved the Gold award for sporting achievement in each of the last 5 years, under the School Games Mark. In 2024, Layton was also awarded the Blackpool Active Lives Award for Primary Schools.
